Spell-a-thon
Dear Parents,
École Connaught School and the Connaught School Fundraising Society are getting set for our annual Spell-a-Thon and of course, our Spelling Bees. This event is a way for students to show off their spelling skills and it is a major fundraiser for the Connaught School Society. Students will collect pledges of flat amounts from April 14th until May 9th. The Spell-a-Thon tests will be conducted on Monday, May 12th and the pledge money should also be collected and returned by May 9th.
All students will take a spelling test during the Spell-A-Thon, however, students may decide whether to take a test at their grade level or at a higher grade level. Teachers may also modify lists for certain students. Those students who receive 100% on a test two levels above their grade will be invited to participate in a special Spelling Bee on May 14th (English) and/or May 15 (French) (*NOTE: Kindergarten and Grade 1 students only need to challenge a test one level above their grade.) Students in grades 3 – 6 have the choice to participate in the English test and Spelling Bee as well as the French test and French Spelling Bee.

This year we will once again be awarding trophies to the top spellers in each grade level for our spelling bees. All students who participate in the Spelling Bee will also receive a special certificate.
Our goal is to raise over $15,000.00, which we again plan to use to benefit every student at École Connaught School through School Council initiatives. This year we will be running class prizes and three prize packs to the top three fundraising families or individuals.
