CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILIES PROGRAM FALL GROUPS, 2025 

WORRY WARRIORS

Target of Group: Children + Anxiety 

Grades: 4-6 

Length of group: 6 weeks 

Dates: Wednesdays October 1-November 5; 4:00-5:00 p.m. 

         

Description: This group teaches calming strategies that help children understand how anxiety connects to their feelings, thoughts, body sensations, and the world around them. The aim is to give kids practical tools to manage worries, reduce stress, and build resilience. Each session focuses on increasing self-awareness and introducing cognitive-behavioral skills to cope with anxiety in healthy ways.  

*Emotion Coaching Parent/caregiver session also offered concurrently from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  

 

STORM TRANSFORMERS

Target of Group: Children + Big Emotions 

Grades: 4-6 

Length of group: 6 weeks 

Dates: Tuesdays October 7- November 18; 4:00pm-5:00pm  

 

Description: A supportive group that helps children understand the connection between anger, their thoughts, body reactions, and the world around them. The program focuses on teaching calming strategies to manage strong emotions, reduce outbursts, and build healthier coping skills. Each session is designed to increase self-awareness, strengthen self-control, and introduce practical tools from cognitive-behavioral approaches to handle anger in positive ways.” 

*Emotion Coaching Parent/caregiver session also offered concurrently from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  

 

MARVEL  

 Group 2, Grouped object

Target of Group: Male Youth + Self-Regulation 

Grades: Middle/Jr. High 

Length of group: 5 weeks  

Dates: Tuesdays October 7-November 4; 5:30-7:00 p.m. 

 

Description: A social and emotional learning program that draws on the best of young men’s strengths to help empower them to make smarter decisions, gain greater self-control and navigate the personal and social dimensions of life more successfully. 

 

RAP: REFLECTIVE AWARENESS PHOTOGRAPHY

Ages: 14-17 

Length of group: 8 Weeks 

Dates: Wednesday October 15-December 3; 5:30pm7:00pm 

 

Description: An engaging photography program that focuses on self-expression, mindfulness, and creative exploration. A different theme will be explored each week, and the focus will be to capture the theme in photographs, collaborate on mindfulness activities as a group, and complete some self-reflective journalling.  

*no photography experience is required*

Grades: 2-4 with Guardian 

Length of group: 6 weeks 

Dates:  Wednesdays November 12 – December 17; 4:00 – 5:00  

         

Description: Calming strategies that teach identification of feelings, thoughts, body sensations, and environmental stressors. The aim of this group is to assist children to use calming strategies to cope with their emotions while supporting guardians to reinforce these skills between sessions. Strong emotions are identified and strategies to build emotional resilience are taught. Each session’s goal is to increase child’s self-awareness and teach skills for working through strong emotions which they can use throughout their life. 

*Parent/caregiver must accompany child each session 

 

PARENT GROUPS 

ADHD PARENTING GROUP

Target of Group: Parents+ Children diagnosed or suspected with ADHD 

Length of group: 6 weeks 

Dates: Tuesdays October 14November 25; 5:45pm-7:00pm  

 

 

Description: This group aims to support you, the parent, in understanding the unique challenges of raising children and youth with ADHD. Together, we explore calming strategies and how emotions, thoughts, body sensations, and environmental stressors affect your child. Sessions also touch on emotional regulation, executive functioning, brain development, emotion coaching, problem-solving, and practical strategies. The goal is to provide both insight and tools that strengthen your child’s coping skills while empowering you with knowledge and support in your parenting journey.
